This handwoven baby blanket has been painstakingly created on the backstrap loom by a Kechi Maya weaver of the Threads of Hope weaving cooperative. This pink blanket features the Maya symbol for girl. This handmade piece makes a wonderful gift. It also has the potential to become a wonderful family heirloom being handed down from generation to generation. The blanket is make from pre-washed thread so shrinkage and any color bleeding should be minimal. Hand washing is suggested for the first few washings. The blanket measures 33 inches by 31 inches not counting the hand knotted fringe. Made in the hills of Alta Verapaz Guatemala by the Threads of Hope Cooperative.
Here is what our customers are saying:
I ordered two of the pink "Threads of Hope" Baby blankets from Mayantraditions.com. As soon as my husband, baby daughter, and I took them out of the package my husband and I both said "they are beautiful" and my 19-month old daughter said "Ooh" and smiled and we told her they were made in the country in which she was born and she smiled. The picture on the website does not do the blankets justice as they are more beautiful in person. The Maya symbol for a girl is beautifully stitched into the woven pink blanket. This is truly an artisan product created by the "Threads of Hope" in Guatemala and can only be truly appreciated when you hold it in your hands and see the amazing craftsmanship and feel the woven cloth. -- Victoria, Maryland |
