A handcrafted wooden flute made by hand in Guatemala. Because each flute is made out of an individually selected piece of wood, they vary slightly in size. Each bamboo flute is approximately 14 inches long.
The flute was made by Danilo Cal a Maya Quiche, who lives in Parramos, Sacatepequez.
Danilo started working with the arts, carving wooden figurines when he was 14 years old. Along with his brother, they started producing a variety of folk art and started selling to tourists in Antigua, Guatemala. However, due to intense competition with fellow artisans, his brother Julio started learning how to make drums and other musical instruments. Danilo also learned to make drums and several types of flutes and whistles. They opened up a small stall in the Antigua market three years ago where they sell to tourists from all over the world. |
