Maya Traditions Craft Cooperatives

Although similar in name, Mayan Traditions, Inc. is not affiliated with Maya Traditions.

Maya Traditions is based out of San Francisco and Panajachel, Guatemala.  Maya Traditions does wonderful work with the Maya artisans located mainly in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. They have many projects and cooperatives in Guatemala. One of our best selling products is the Maya Traditions doll. In each doll's home village, the women weavers carefully weave clothing for the doll on a backstrap loom. This wonderful project has helped produce respect for the Maya culture and helped preserve the tradition of backstrap loom weaving. These dolls are now enjoyed by young and old alike around the world. We also sell a wide variety of Guatemalan bags, purses and totes that have been crafted by Maya Traditions cooperative.
