Description The Story Behind This Product
 
This Guatemalan tablecloth is created by a weaving group in Rabinal. The group of treadle loom weavers was initially started in the mid 1980's to provide a source of income for the many widows in this area from Guatemala's civil war. The women realized they could not support themselves on labor intensive backstrap looms therefore they learned how to create these beautiful tablecloths using treadle looms. These tablecloths are very popular and are difficult for us to obtain.

This beautiful Guatemalan tablecloth is made in Guatemala by members of the Mayan Hands cooperative.

This is an absolutely beautiful tablecloth March 22, 2007

The colors are very rich and I love the thickness of the cloth.  My husband was very please when he saw it and was pleasantly surprised with both the qualtiy and price.  I invited my neighbor over to dinner last night and now she wants to buy one for their vacation home.
