This Guatemalan tablecloth is created by a weaving group in Rabinal. The group of treadle loom weavers was initially started in the mid 1980's to provide a source of income for the many widows in this area from Guatemala's civil war. The women realized they could not support themselves on labor intensive backstrap looms therefore they learned how to create these beautiful tablecloths using treadle looms. These Guatemalan tablecloths are very popular and are difficult for us to obtain.

The tablecloth is made in Guatemala by members of the Maya Hands cooperative.

I have had my Rainbow Heavy Guatemalan tablecloth for over a year now and we use it every day. I just love it! In addition, it washes very well and after all this heavy use it has no lasting stains, plus the colors do not seem to have faded. There is only one problem: it shrunk substantially the first time I washed it (in warm water).
