Mayan Traditions Fair Trade Guatemalan Crafts

These beautiful clergy stoles are made in Santiago, Guatemala on beautiful Lake Atitlan. Each Guatemalan clergy stole is unique and has different motifs as the weaver created it. These are very heavy and sturdy clergy stoles and measure about 58 inches from the center of the neck to the bottom of the fringe.

These stoles are made by indigenous Mayan Tzutujil women who were introduced to making them by the martyred Catholic priest, Stanley Roker of Oklahoma. The making of Guatemalan clergy stoles may be a recent product for the weavers, but the technique to making them has been passed down for hundreds of years. These people had a difficult time finding a market for their stoles alone in Guatemala. They have become very popular gifts for clergy!
