This Guatemalan scarf features beautiful earth tone colors. This scarf looks elegant enough to wear out to a dressy evening event. The 100% cotton weave is done on the backstrap loom. The scarf measures 11.5 inches wide and 54.5 inches long.
The scarf is made by a Samajel B'atz' cooperative known as Flor Del Campo. Flor del Campo. Eight of women began working together in 1983, after becoming widows as a result of the civil war. Now this Guatemala weaving cooperative consists of 25 Kaqchiquel women from the village of Patzaj, municipality of Comalapa, in the department of Chimaltenango. Their village has 1,025 inhabitants and is located eight kilometers from the municipal center. From there, Guatemala City is a three-hour bus ride. |
