| We are not sure how this bag got its unique name, but we are guessing it is the name of the person who designed it! This wonderful bag has three zipped pockets on the front and one zipped pocket on the back. The flap top is secured by velcro, plus there is a zipper underneath the top to help keep everything inside! Inside this bag there is one additional pocket. The bag measures approximately 10 inches high by 8 inches wide by 2.5 inches deep. The shoulder strap is 55 inches long creating a drop of about 24 inches when hung from the shoulder.
This is made by a Samajel B'atz' cooperative called TEJIDOS GUADALUPE. This is a group of 55 Kaqchikel women who live in outlying villages of San José Poaquil, in the province of Chimaltenango. Their organization was founded in 1983, with the aim of bringing together victims of the violence that had been caused by the civil war. Currently, its focus is on the following areas with hopes to achieve a more dignified life for and the active participation of all group members: • Backstrap and floor loom weaving and sewing • Organic agriculture • Basic goods store • Preventative and curative health • Training and educational workshops |
