| These beautiful hand towels are finely woven with quetzal accents at one end of the towel. This would be wonderful to display in a guest bathroom or any place where you want to make someone feel special. This could probably also be used in a variety of other ways. Be creative! The towel is 14 inches by 18 inches.
These towels are made by a Samajel B'atz' weaving cooperative named TEJIDOS GUADALUPE. It is a group of 55 Kaqchikel women who live in outlying villages of San José Poaquil, in the province of Chimaltenango. The cooperative was founded in 1983, with the aim of bringing together victims of the violence that had been caused by the civil war. Currently, its focus is on the following areas, hoping to achieve a more dignified life for and the active participation of all group members:
Backstrap and floor loom weaving and sewing Organic agriculture Basic goods store Preventative and curative health Training and educational workshops |
